On 11 March, Joseph, one of Safety Net’s dedicated volunteers, will be taking part in the University of Cumbria Multi-Sports event and he has set himself a goal of raising £500 to support survivors of abuse across North and West Cumbria.

Joseph has been volunteering with Safety Net for the past year. During that time, he has seen firsthand the impact that specialist support can have on someone rebuilding their life after trauma.

“I’ve seen people regain confidence, reconnect with others and begin to feel hopeful again,” Joseph shares. “That’s why I wanted to do something to give back.”

Safety Net provides therapy, practical support and safe spaces for adults, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual abuse, rape and exploitation. In 2025 alone, we have supported over 1,000 people locally.

Joseph’s £500 fundraising goal will help us continue delivering this life-changing work.

With the event taking place on 11 March, there is still time to support him.

If you would like to help Joseph reach his goal, you can donate via his JustGiving page here.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.

We are so proud of Joseph for stepping up to support our work and grateful to everyone who stands alongside us.
