On this page, you will find information on how to make a sexual or domestic abuse referral for your patient or service user.
We can only support service users whose abuse or abusive relationship ended at least three months ago, and are now in a safe environment. Starting recovery work too early can sometimes do more harm than good, so it’s important we make sure each person is ready to work with our team.
You will need to go through our eligibility checker below in order to access our referral form.
We understand it can be difficult to determine whether your service user is ready for recovery. To help you make this decision, we offer an eligibility checker and additional guidance on our readiness for recovery page.
We currently have a waiting list for our trauma-informed support and therapy services, meaning support is not available immediately.
Once a referral is received, we will arrange a short initial call with the individual to confirm key information, check suitability, and ensure it is safe to proceed.
If appropriate, the individual will be placed on a waiting list for an assessment. Assessments are completed when they reach the top of the list to ensure information remains current. If the service is still suitable at that stage, we will look to allocate the next available appropriate support.
Please be aware that the waiting time between the initial call and assessment may currently be up to 12 months.
You can contact us for signposting, information and advice by calling: 01228 515859, emailing: office@safetynetuk.org or via our contact page.
To ensure we can provide the most effective support possible, we have a six-month waiting period before accepting re-referrals for service users who were previously ineligible or disengaged from our services. This allows service users time to address immediate needs and prepare for engagement in recovery-focused support.
We understand that this may require you to explore alternative services in the meantime. We also encourage you to explore the resources on our website, which include informative videos and helpful guides.
We are committed to working collaboratively with you to support your service user’s journey. We will always provide a clear reason for any referral decision and offer guidance on when your patient may be ready for our services.
