Fundraise for Safety Net

Help us to keep supporting Cumbria

Safety Net is a registered charity. By making a donation today or supporting us with fundraising, you will help us to keep supporting people in Cumbria affected by rape, exploitation, and sexual and domestic abuse. Each year, we are humbled and amazed by the creativity and things our supporters do to help us raise funds.

Every donation, regardless of size, helps us provide vital services, including one-to-one therapy, prevention work in schools, support for asylum seekers and refugees, men’s peer support groups, and training for other agencies. Thank you for your support in helping us make a difference in the lives of those affected by abuse in Cumbria.

This section of our website shows you all the different ways that you can support our work – either through donations, fundraising for domestic and sexual abuse or spreading the word about our important work.

What your support could provide

£1000
could help us deliver a workshop in a secondary school to raise awareness on topics such as consent, the impact of pornography and education about healthy relationships. It could also provide teacher training, parent support and 1:1 support for young people who have experienced abuse.
could provide awareness and education on trauma and tackle the root causes of abuse. We work with education, health, and criminal justice systems to improve the experiences of anyone affected by abuse, fostering systemic change.
would provide six sessions of play therapy or art therapy to a child or young person who has lived through abuse. Play therapy supports their recovery and helps break the cycle of abuse.

could provide a McKenzie Friend to a family navigating family court, which can often perpetuate trauma. This support helps them understand the process and advocate for their needs.

could offer three practical support sessions to an asylum seeker or refugee who has experienced trauma. We help them navigate complex systems, access resources, and feel safer in their new environment.
could provide two pre-trial sessions and wrap-around support, helping them feel safer while they wait for or go through the court system.
could fund a two-hour peer support group session for up to eight men or women who have experienced abuse. These groups provide a safe space for shared experiences, mutual understanding, and empowerment.
£50

could provide one hour of vital trauma therapy for a survivor of sexual or domestic abuse. This dedicated support can be the first step towards healing and recovery.

Smaller donations can make a big impact

While the above donations highlight specific impacts, any contribution you make is deeply appreciated. Here are some examples of how your generosity can help:

could help us work to make sure specialist support is available to victims and survivors to help them recover.
could support a parent impacted by domestic and sexual abuse to develop positive parenting strategies.

a month could help us continue to create safe spaces in our building and help keep a creative kit stocked with materials to use with children and young people on their recovery journey.

could help us provide essential resources and information packs to survivors, signposting them with the support they need.
